Wave Recruitment Trends Report for 2023

A tale of two halves

Application numbers grew in the latter half of 2022, whereas job activity decreased in the same time period. This points to an injection of candidates into the market as the year waned.

50% of applications in 48 hours

Whether listed for 7 days or up to 42 days, the vast majority of applications
were received within 48 hours of a job being published.

High applications for job boards

Job boards still receive the greatest percentage of applications of all channels, with niche job boards receiving the highest average number of applications per job.

We uncover the trends that characterised 2022, looking at peaks and troughs in jobs and applications as the year progressed, the best times to post, the channels that saw the most activity, application quality, and the biggest trend of the post-pandemic era, flexible working.
