Recruitment websites are evolving to meet the expectations of both job seekers and employers, and design trends are playing a significant role in shaping user experience.
Based on insights from our design team, the overarching theme for recruitment website design in 2025 is balancing functionality with creativity. While clean, user-friendly layouts remain the foundation, elements like bold typography, unique colour palettes, and experimental navigation add flair.
Here are the trends we anticipate will dominate in 2025:
1. Dark Mode vs. Light Mode
Dark mode continues to make waves, paired with bold fonts and bright colours to create visually striking designs. Spacey background gradients combined with glass mode elements add depth and a futuristic feel. On the other hand, there’s a growing demand for clean, white layouts featuring softer colours, offering a calm and accessible user experience. Both approaches highlight how design choices are being tailored to different audience preferences.
“Dark mode designs allow us to experiment with bright colours and gradients in a way that pops,” says our Lead UI/UX Designer, Elizabeth Bennet. “But at the same time, there’s a growing appreciation for lighter, simpler layouts that feel welcoming and easy to navigate.”

2. Bold, Block-Based Layouts
The rise of bold, block-based layouts (often called bento grids) is another trend gaining traction. These layouts prioritise structure and functionality while maintaining a modern, contemporary style. Rounded corners add a softer edge to these designs, creating a balance between professionalism and visual appeal.
“Bento grids are brilliant for creating organised yet visually engaging designs,” notes Elizabeth. “We’re seeing rounded corners help soften the overall look, making the designs feel approachable without losing their edge.”

3. Micro-Interactions
Micro-interactions are becoming a key element in recruitment website design. These subtle animations provide immediate feedback to users, enhancing usability and engagement. Whether it is a button reacting to a click or a form field highlighting when selected, these small touches make the user experience feel more interactive and intuitive.
“Micro-interactions are a small but mighty way to keep users engaged,” says Elizabeth. “Those little moments of delight can make a big difference in user experience.”

4. Experimental Navigation
Navigation design is pushing boundaries, with experimental approaches encouraging users to explore sites more thoroughly. Animated transitions, elements fading in and out, changing colours, and smooth movements are being used to make navigation a seamless and enjoyable experience. Fixed top navigation bars with transitions, in particular, are gaining popularity, blending functionality with creativity.
“It is exciting to see how navigation design is evolving,” Elizabeth shares. “Features like animated transitions and colour shifts aren’t just eye-catching. They are helping users feel more immersed in the experience.”

5. Minimalism with Bold Typography
Minimalist designs with bold typography continue to dominate. Big, eye-catching fonts create a strong visual impact while ensuring readability. This trend supports making websites aesthetically appealing and easy to navigate, meeting the dual demands of style and functionality.
“Minimalism with bold typography remains a favourite because it strikes a perfect balance,” Wave’s Webdesigner, Janelle Baguioro comments. “It is simple, yet it still draws attention and holds it.”

6. Creative Colour Palettes
Colour palettes are becoming more adventurous, featuring combinations of earthy tones with pops of vibrant colour, muted neons, or unusual shades like avocado green or lemon yellow. These unique choices add personality to websites, sparking curiosity and encouraging users to explore. However, careful application is essential to avoid readability issues.
“Experimenting with colour palettes is one of the most fun parts of the design process,” Janelle explains. “Unique combinations like muted neons or earthy tones with bright accents can make a website memorable if done right.”

7. Job Cards Front and Centre
On recruitment websites, job cards are moving closer to the top of the page, often integrated into or near the hero section. This shift reflects the priority of providing users with quick access to job opportunities, streamlining the path to applications.
“Putting job cards near the hero section makes a statement,” says Elizabeth. “It says we value your time and want to help you find opportunities as quickly as possible.”

Recruitment websites in 2025 are all about blending creativity with functionality. However, achieving this balance requires the proper insight and expertise. Understanding the nuances of these trends is key. It’s not just about following what’s popular but tailoring it to the needs of your audience and business goals. With the right expertise, you can turn a website into a powerful tool for recruitment success.
